PESHAWAR: Counter terrorism department of police arrested two persons in Bajaur for their alleged involvement in killing of a police inspector in Dargai area of district Malakand, CTD officials said.

They said that the two persons had confessed to killing inspector Wakeel Khan, a special branch official, and a team member of the chief minister’s security.

Wakeel Khan came under attack last month when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him while he was travelling along with his friend and son.

The inspector and his friend died on the spot while his son, who sustained injuries, was shifted to a hospital.

On Thursday, CTD officials informed media-persons that a case was filed under section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 on Feb 18 and a team was formed to probe the case, adding that the team arrested two alleged militants — Liaqatullah alias Mujahid and Mujeebullah, residents of Haryankot from Dargai respectively.

The officials also said that the team also recovered a motorcycle and the weapon used in the attack, adding that the accused had confessed to killing the inspector over personal issues.
