LAHORE: The Drug Control Punjab of the Primary and Secondary Health Department Punjab has declared a batch of the much-prescribed antibiotic medicine substandard.

It has issued directions to all the drug inspectors and other officers concerned to re-call the medicine in-question ‘Oxidil injection’ from the market.

An official told Dawn that the health authorities have issued directions in the light of the reports of the drug testing labs which declared a particular batch of the medicine adulterated/sub-standard.

Punjab Drug Control Director General Dr Sohail told Dawn his directorate has issued directions to withdraw 050K batch of antibiotic injection Oxidil from the market.

He said instructions were issued in the light of the drug testing laboratory’s report which revealed this particular batch of inject-able Oxdal reported as “fake and substandard”.

He said the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Oxidil injection clarified that counterfeiters are using their company’s name to sell fake Oxidil injection batch number 050K in the market.
