KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead in different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

They said that a suspected robber was shot dead while his accomplice arrested in wounded condition after a robbery at a petrol pump near Malir Cantonment.

They added that four robbers snatched cash and other valuables from Buriro Oil Change Service Station near Check Post-6. As they were fleeing after the robbery, a security guard, Ghulam Sarwar, opened fire on them, resulting in bullet injuries to two suspects while their accomplices managed to escape.

The injured suspects were taken to a hospital where suspect Asad Ali, 45, was pronounced dead while Mohammed Ali, 45, was admitted for treatment.

The police claimed to have recovered a pistol and motorcycle from their custody.

In another incident, a suspected robber was gunned down in an encounter with police on National Highway on Wednesday.

The Shah Latif Town police said that three robbers were looting two occupants of a vehicle near the Murghi Khan bus stop. When they offered resistance, the robbers shot at and wounded Ali Murtaza, 22, and Hasnain Saleem, 25.

In the meantime, a police patrol arrived at the scene and seeing the law enforcers the robbers started firing in their bid to escape. In an exchange of gunfire, one suspect was killed, but his two accomplices managed to escape.

Area SHO Mohammed Wakeel identified the dead as Anwar Ali.

The wounded victims were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Body found

A young man was found murdered off Superhighway on Wednesday, police said.

Sohrab Goth SHO Gul Baig said the body of a man in his early 30s was recovered from bushes near Insaf Hospital in Quetta Town. There were injury marks on the victim’s head, which were caused by hard and blunt instruments.

The corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The SHO said the deceased might have been killed somewhere after which his body was thrown there.
