TAXILA: A PTI-backed candidate Sardar Mohammad Ali, who contested as an independent candidate from provincial assembly constituency PP-2, Attock-II Hasanabdal, retained his winning position after recounting.

Subsequently, the Returning Officer Dr Sana Ramchand, has declared official results and issued Form 49. In Form 47, PTI-backed candidate Sardar Muhammad Ali, who contested the election on Thursday as an independent candidate, secured 36,093 votes, while his political rival Sardar Iftikhar Khan contested the election on the ticket of PML-N and got 35,891 votes.

Subsequently, Mr Iftikhar filed an application with the returning officer for a recount of votes, which was subsequently accepted. After recounting, the number of votes polled for Mr Ali increased, and he got 56 more votes. Subsequently, the returning officer issued the Form-49 of the constituency, in which Mr Ali was declared a successful candidate again with 36,149 votes.
