LOWER DIR: The shortage of anti-epileptic drug and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in Lower Dir and Upper Dir has put the life of patients, according to locals.

The relative of epileptic and cardiac patients told journalists in Timergara on Tuesday that authorities concerned should immediately take notice of the shortage of drugs. They said that tablet tegral, used for Parkinson’s disease, ACE and anti-allergic Depo-Medrol were short in local market due to which patients were suffering.

They said that patients had no option but to buy those medicines at high prices in other districts. They said that shortage of medicines put the life of epileptic and cardiac patients at stake. They demanded of government to take notice of the matter and resolve it soon.

Meanwhile, an owner of a medical store told this scribe that distributors were not supplying those drugs despite their demand. He said that the drugs were short in the market for a long time. He said that they were buying those drugs in Peshawar at high prices.
