NAUDERO: Future development plans will have egalitarian and human aspects ensuring equal distribution of economic benefits among all regions of Pakistan, Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto said here today [Jan 30]. He was speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Rs 10 crore sugar mills being built here with the assistance of the Peoples Republic of China under the auspices of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation.

Mr Bhutto said the Government … has decided to construct many more sugar mills in various provinces so different regions get the benefit of just and scientific planning. Mr Bhutto said that in the past Pakistan’s planning had not taken into account the egalitarian and human aspects of development. “We have gone by orthodox text books and we have made many mistakes.” “I hope,” the Prime Minister added, “we will learn from these mistakes of the past in formulating our future five year plans. …” The Prime Minister paid rich tributes to the Peoples Republic of China for the latter’s assistance and support to the project. “Not only did they make the foreign exchange component available to us, but they assisted us in improving indigenous know-how”.
