TAXILA: A man was arrested for abducting a 17-year-old boy and holding him in illegal detention over a monetary dispute within the limits of Wah Cantonment Police station.

As per a police spokesman, Asad was abducted by Ijaz Khan and his accomplices in front of his father over a monetary dispute.

The victim’s father reported the matter to the police, and as a result, police raided the abductor’s hideout and recovered the boy safely.

The main suspect, Ijaz, was arrested, while a search was launched to arrest the remaining suspects.

Meanwhile, Pindigheb Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested five suspects for gambling over cock fights during a raid at a gambling den on Saturday. Bet money amounting to Rs 84,000 was also confiscated during the raid.

Five arrested

In another incident, the local administration of Hazro town of Attock busted a racket on Saturday for supplying and selling dead chicken to the public, hotels, and marriage halls and arrested five members of the racket while confiscating a vehicle.

Assistant Commissioner Hazro Kamran Ashraf, in his briefing to a mediaperson, noted that there were complaints from consumers about the supply and sale of dead meat in the various parts of the town.

Acting on a tip, a team intercepted a vehicle, and during the search, dead chickens were found, he added.

The suspects claimed that they sold dead chickens to a poultry shop, and during a raid at the shop located near Qutba in Kamra Cantonment, more dead chickens were found.

Later, all the dead meat weighing around 5 mounds was destroyed, and five members of the scam were arrested after the registration of a case against them, Mr Ashraf said.
