CONCERNED ASPIRANTS: The constitutional tenure of the panel of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (AJKPSC) expired in the first week of May this year. Since then, the new body has not yet been formed. The young aspirants are under serious stress as the fate of many advertisements as well as examinations and results are lying in limbo. Besides, speculations are rife that the government of AJK is considering recruiting individuals while bypassing the requirement related to the National Testing Service (NTS). This is a matter of great concern. The aspirants are hoping that the AJK government would put an end to such rumours by forming a new body to run the affairs of AJKPSC.

INTERNET IN THARPARKAR: The people of Tharparkar struggle to get good education and many other basic facilities. One should now add to the list the deteriorating internet connectivity. The local internet service providers earn a huge profit from the district, but do not maintain the service quality. This is nothing but attempt to take advantage of the local people. The relevant authorities should provide strong and reliable internet service to the remote areas of Sindh by keeping an eye on the affairs of internet service providers.

PRIVATE HOSTELS: Universities, in pursuit of profit, enrol more students without providing adequate lodging facilities. Consequently, a growing number of students, including both girls and boys, resort to private hostels. In Jamshoro, the locality of choice is the Sindh University Society, owing to its proximity to the campus. This has led to overpopulation and a serious burden on the basic amenities in the area. Converting residential areas into commercial properties is illegal, but there seems to be a lack of oversight in this regard. The government and all relevant bodies should take due notice.
