SARGODHA: A young man who was trying to take a selfie sitting along the cage of a lion at the Lok Mela was injured by the lion.

The lion grabbed the man, identified as Amin, by the arm and clawed him, injuring him severely. However, as the lion was in a cage, it could not bite the young man.

The injured youth was rushed to the Faisal Shaheed District Headquarters Hospital for immediate medical treatment.

This incident created panic among the visitors of Lok Mela being organised by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA).

A study found that 379 people worldwide were killed due to selfies between 2008 and 2021 while even more were injured. Incidents are more likely in young adults, particularly males.

BISE: A new building of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Sargodha will be constructed with the estimated cost of Rs130m.

This was decided after approval of the map of the new building by Commissioner Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti who is also the chairman of BISE Regional Police Officer Shariq Kamal Siddiqui and Secretary Board Abul Hasan Naqvi were also present in the meeting.

The new building will be completed by the buildings department in one year.

It should be noted that the provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) had stopped work on the old building of the board office. After which the board of governors approved the new building whose construction would start by the end of the current month.

The commissioner directed for ensuring the quality of work and completion within the stipulated time.

He said the map of the new building had been designed according to modern requirements in which efforts had been made to provide better facilities for the employees and the public.

The district environmental committee has approved the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for six stone crushers, including five stone crusher units in Sargodha tehsil and one stone crusher unit in Sillanwali tehsil.

The committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner retired Capt Shoaib Ali in his office.

The meeting was attended by AD Environment Muhammad Naveed and University of Sargodha expert Dr Ghulam Sarwar besides officers of forest department, municipal corporation and civil defense.

The DC has directed the assistant director of environment to dispose of all the pending cases as soon as possible.
