LAHORE: Electricity consumers attacked and vandalised Johar Town Sub-Division office of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco), subjecting the staff to violence on Friday

According to SDO Irfan Ali, the recovery staff had disconnected the electricity of individuals owing outstanding bills, leading to a confrontation with the suspects, including Zohaib Butt, Mohib Butt and Anwar Amin Butt.

The suspects abused Lineman Imran and resorted to physical violence. The suspects not only damaged government property but also stole cash, including Rs12,000 from Lineman Imran and Rs75,000 (pool money) from Lineman Akhlaq.

The Sub-Division registered an FIR against the culprits, leading to their arrest by police.

Lesco on Friday recovered Rs28.7m from the 476 defaulters across its operational circles.

The 72nd day of the campaign saw Chief Engineer O&M (T&G) Zafar Iqbal, alongside Tehsildar City Mujahid Zia and Tehsildar Shalimar Noreez Humayun, leading the effort.
