MUZAFFARGARH: A case has been registered against four officials of the district jail for negligence after a prisoner fled from it.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Altaf Hussain, a theft accused on judicial remand, escaped through a truck that had entered the jail to unload wheat flour. He tricked the jail officials by hanging under a truck as it left the jail after unloading the flour. The officials found out that they had been tricked during the checking long after the truck left.

The deputy superintendent jail submitted an application with the City Police Station for registering a case against Assistant Superintendent Jail Imtiaz Ali, Central Tower in-charge Irshad Hussain, Head Warder Muhammad Iqbal and Barrack No 5 in-charge for negligence.

Police registered a case against the officials and started an investigation. Some hours after the escape, the City police traced Altaf and arrested him.

Sources said an inquiry against the jail officials had been launched.
