Gear up for yet another easy and fun DIY craft to make your weekend even more exciting! While the classic party blower produces a cheerful squeaking whistle, the one we’re making today offers a delightful twist.
You might wonder, “How so?” Well, it’s all about keeping the joy without causing any nuisance on an ordinary day.
Today, we’ll be making a charming paper frog, a party-blowing toy that, when blown, extends its tongue just like it does in its natural habitat to catch its prey — however, here it is not catching any prey, but displaying playfulness.
Things you need
Green and red-coloured papers
Scrapes of black and white paper to make the eyes.
Glue stick
One drinking straw
Double tape
Scotch tape
Scissors
Directions
Cut a circle with a six-inch circumference from green paper, then two-fold it, pictures 2 and 3.
Poke a small hole in the centre from where you will insert the straw, as shown in picture 4.
Now, cut three pairs of circles in three different sizes for the eyes. Keep the larger one with a 1.5-inch circumference (in green colour), and gradually cut the other two pairs (white and black) smaller in proportion to the larger one, picture 5.
Paste the circles in place of eyes on both sides of the hole you just cut in the two-folded circle, (first green, then white and lastly black) as shown in picture 6.
You can make nostrils and cheeks with a marker, or use red paper circles indicating the cheeks. See, you just made a frog!
Now it’s time to make the tongue of our cute frog. Cut a 10-inch long and 2.5-inch wide strip from red paper, picture 7.
Paste double tape on three sides of the strip, leaving one side, picture 8.
Place the drinking straw just one inch inside the strip and fold it in half, picture 9.
Fold this strip into a coil until you reach the straw part, as shown in picture 10.
Insert the straw into the hole from inside the frog’s mouth, as shown in pictures 11 and 12.
If you want you can cut thin legs and paste them behind the frog, but that’s optional.
This cute little frog is now ready to play with. It’s super easy and loads of fun!
