LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology’s Society of Women Engineers took a remarkable initiative on Thursday, spending a day with secondary school students to ignite their passion for engineering.

This educational excursion offered more than 100 girls and 30 boys a firsthand experience of the wide array of engineering disciplines available at the university. In doing so, it effectively challenged traditional gender stereotypes within the field.

The day commenced with a visit to the National Science Museum, where students were introduced to the wonders of science and technology. This enlightening journey continued with visits to engineering laboratories, captivating presentations on various engineering specializations, and engaging STEM activities that fired up the students’ imaginations.

One of the day’s highlights included fun quizzes and interactive sessions with both engineering students and faculty. These engaging interactions enabled the young visitors to delve into innovative experimental designs, nurturing their curiosity and critical thinking. Senior-year engineering students, in particular, impressed the school children with intriguing science experiments tailored for them.

To enhance the students’ sense of accomplishment and motivation, they were also presented with gifts and enjoyed refreshments as part of this inspiring event.
