Selecting the right career

There was a time when students’ future plans primarily revolved around becoming a pilot, lawyer, doctor or engineer. These few disciplines were seen as the only fields that could provide both respect and financial rewards. Students were unaware of various opportunities that could potentially be more advantageous and suitable for their particular capabilities.

Today, life has evolved significantly with technology, and gone are the days when the only available career choices were of medicine or engineering. Now, a whole world of non-traditional options exists, from IT and electronic media to web networking, online business and fashion designing, and what not, all open to young people.

However, the challenge of choosing the right career remains. Unfortunately, for most of us, the right career defines our profession. It’s essential to seriously consider the market demand for any field.

I recommend that schools and colleges implement career counselling programmes. These programmes can play a crucial role in guiding young individuals toward fulfilling professions.

Before deciding on any career, it’s important to ensure that it not only provides financial stability, but also mental peace.

Leading with my left hand

This is with reference to the story “Leading with my left hand” by Rameen Kaka (YW, September 16). The story highlighted the obstacles left-handed individuals usually face, from the stuff that is used daily in the house to the outside world, everything is made and designed for right-handed people because they are the majority.

However, in my opinion, the minority should also be kept in mind because they have to face enormous trouble due to this. Moreover, the story conveyed a valuable lesson of adaptation, which is a key factor in dealing with all the hardships coming in one’s way.

The benefits of effective revision

This is with reference to the cover article “The benefits of effective revision” by Dawood Khan (YW, September 23). The article emphasised the significance of revision, especially in achieving good grades.

I agree with the writer that revision aids in retaining knowledge acquired over an extended period and enables students to identify areas of weakness. The article expressed valuable information by discussing specific revision techniques and strategies for efficient revision schedules.
