DACCA: A permit system for the people coming into Eastern Pakistan from India is to be introduced. This announcement was made by the East Bengal Premier, Mr Nurul Amin, on his return from Karachi to Dacca today [Oct 7] in a Press interview. Mr Nurul Amin said that arrangements will be shortly taken in hand to set up adequate machinery for the purpose.

Mr Nurul Amin, accompanied by Mr Ham­i­dul Haq Chowdhury, Mr Aziz Ahmed (the Chief Secretary) and others, returned to Dac­ca from Karachi this afternoon in the Gove­r­nor-General’s Viking. The plane will return to Karachi on Saturday [Oct 9] with Her Ex­­cellency Begum Nazimuddin and the Gover­nor-General’s family. — Dacca correspondent

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Secunderabad,] Stringent measures have been taken by the Military Governor on the occasion of Dassera and Bakr Id celebrations which fall on the same date next week. Under Defence of Hyderabad Rules, a ban has been imposed on all processions. By another order, cow and camel slaughter has been prohibited throughout the state during Bakr Id celebrations which fall between Oct 12 and 17.
