GUJRANWALA, Feb 8: The Hafizabad district council on Wednesday approved Rs2,484.268 million budget for 2005-06. According to the budget outlay, Rs1,209.268 million have been allocated for development and Rs1,275 million for non-development expenditures.

The budget session was presided over by district naib nazim Zahid Bhatti while nazims of all union councils, the DCO, EDOs and other officers concerned were present.

EDO (finance) Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmad said Rs55 million would be given to works and services department for the repair of government buildings while Rs49.448 million for district complex.

He said Rs10 million would be provided for upgradation of primary and middle schools each.

The council also adopted a resolution against the European countries and condemned the publication of blasphemous cartoons in newspapers.
