GUJRANWALA: A youth was shot dead and another seriously injured in a firing incident outside the main gate of a private college in Wazirabad located on the GT Road on Monday.

Police sources say a youth identified as Babar Toor, a resident of Wayanwali village, was shot dead and his friend Qadeer was seriously injured after being shot in the neck as a result of rivalry between two student groups.

The injured youth was provided first aid at Wazirabad District Headquarters Hospital where doctors referred him to Gujranwala DHQ hospital given his serious condition.

The body of the youth who died was shifted to the hospital for autopsy. The college administration, however, claimed that both the dead and injured youngsters did not study in the institute. Saddar police are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, residents of the area where the private college is situated say that aerial firing was a routine in the area, causing insecurity among the locals.

ROBBER KILLED: An alleged robber was killed in “the firing by his accomplice” during a botched-up robbery at a bakery at Eimanabad Mor.

As per police sources, the owner Amir Sajjad, a resident of Nowshera Wirkan, was present at the bakery when two armed robbers arrived there and attempted to loot cash.

As the owner offered resistance and tried to overpower one of the robbers, the other one shot at him. However, the bullet hit his own accomplice, who died on the spot.

The other robber escaped on a motorcycle, along with his third accomplice, who was waiting outside the bakery.
