TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) will not cut off electricity connections of those who could not pay this month’s bills.

This was claimed by Labour Qaumi Movement Chairman Baba Latif Insari, who claimed to have met the Fesco CEO.

He said All Fesco officials would ensure that meter reading should not be recorded before 29 days in each month.

Insari announced after the meeting with the CEO that the strike of powerloom factories and other related industries scheduled for Sep 5 had been deferred for 15 days.

He said if the Fesco CEO did not implement his promise, and the government failed to provide relief on inflated bills, a new date for the strike would be announced after 15 days.

ENCOUNTER: An alleged robber was killed and his accomplice wounded in an encounter with Faisalabad Elite force police on Monday near Mauza Rahmay Shahwala in Tandlianwala.

The police said that while they were on their way to Sahiwal on official duty, they saw three bandits looting motorcyclists. Upon seeing the police, the outlaws opened fire on the van, which was also retaliated. When the firing stopped, the police found one of the dacoits killed and the other injured, while their third accomplice had escaped.

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ayub Watto of Chak 613 GB, and the injured outlaw as Zahid Watto of Chak 403 GB. He was shifted to the Tandlianwala THQ hospital.

The police claimed that both the killed and injured robbers received bullets fired by their own accomplice and that both were involved in several robberies.

ARRESTED: Robbers who had robbed disabled international archery player Qasim Tahir a few days ago on Sargodha Road in Jhang were arrested by Jhang’s Kotwali police on Monday, according to the Jhang police.

KILLED: Two brothers killed their relative in Toba Tek Singh, Chak 295 GB Barianwala, on Monday.

According to the City police, Muhammad Umer had divorced the daughter of the deceased Muhammad Salim after a dispute developed between both families. Over the same grudge, he and his brother Muhammad Amer opened fire at Salim.

He was shifted to the DHQ hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

ACCIDENT: A milk-containing truck driver died after his vehicle collided with a trailer parked on the roadside on Monday on Toba Tek Singh-Chichawatni Road near Rajana Chak 267-GB.

The driver died instantly and was identified as Asif Nazir.
