GUJRAT: A newly-wed couple was killed over an honour-related issue in Charanwala village of Kharian Saddar police precincts on Tuesday.

Police said 30-year-old Abdul Jabbar and 25-year-old Saima had contracted marriage of their choice. The couple shifted to a Kharian village, as the woman married the man against the will of her parents.

However, both were stabbed to death by some unidentified suspects at a farmhouse in the village.

Police reached the spot and gathered evidence, while a team from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) also arrived to collect forensic evidence. Police stated that the bodies were transferred to Kharian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. Police are yet to register a case.
