MARDAN: The posts of the district health officer and medical director of the Mardan Medical Complex Hospital have long been lying vacant, it is learnt.

Credible sources told Dawn on Saturday said the post of medical director in Mardan Medical Complex Hospital (MTI) had been lying vacant for last one and a half year.

They said the post was twice advertised in newspapers and several candidates had applied for it, but the appointment process could not be completed due to unknown reasons.

They, however, said Dr Imad Hameed had been made acting medical director of MMC.

Likewise, the sources said medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital, Mardan, Dr Javed Iqbal was working as acting district health officer as the post of DHO had been lying vacant for last 10 months, affecting the functioning of 18 basic health units and rural health centres in Mardan.
