SHANGLA/PESHAWAR: Three persons including two women were killed and six others including two children sustained injuries in different incidents caused by torrential rains and windstorm in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.

According to the Shangla district administration, two persons including a woman were killed and a child sustained injuries in rain-related incidents in the district. The windstorm, coupled with rain, also left several houses damaged, it said.

“The windstorm hit various parts of the district. Our office and revenue department are collecting details of losses and damage,” Shangla Deputy Commissioner Hassan Abid told Dawn.

He confirmed that a woman identified as Fatora Bibi was killed after a tree fell on her in Chichlo, Ranyal area of Shahpur tehsil. He added that Latifur Rehman was killed when a three-storey house collapsed in Bachkata area of Chakesar tehsil.

The deputy commissioner said the house of Abdul Qadir collapsed in Alpuri. He added that a child identified as Muskan sustained injuries in the incident and was shifted to district headquarters hospital.

Meanwhile, rescuers said that a woman was killed and four others received injuries when roofs and boundary walls of different houses collapsed in Takht-i-Nasrati area of Karak district.

A statement issued by Rescue 1122 in the provincial capital said that the injured persons were shifted to hospital and rescue activities were under way in the area.

The statement said that main gate of a house in Domail area of Bannu district collapsed, leaving a child injured. It added that the child was provided with emergency medical services at the spot and was later shifted to Khalifa Gulnawaz Hospital in Bannu.
