KHYBER: The power supply to entire Landi Kotal was restored on Sunday after 18 hours of hectic efforts by Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company technical staff and local volunteers.

Electricity was suspended to Landi Kotal when a high tension wire was damaged due to firing in the air in Sur Kamar area of Jamrud on Saturday evening.

The wire was repaired with strenuous efforts both by the Tesco technical staff and volunteers of Al-Khidmat Foundation who had reached the spot at around midnight.

Meanwhile, at least 13 persons were injured when rival groups clashed in Mirdad Khel area of Landi Kotal on Sunday over a land dispute.

Police said most of the injured suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital and added that at least 10 persons were also taken into custody from both groups. A jirga of local elders also effected a ‘ceasefire’ between the rival groups for at least three months during which the jirga would try to resolve the dispute through negotiations.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Islamic Relief Pakistan and Khidmat-i-Khalq Welfare Society distributed sacrificial meat among 1,600 families in parts of Upper Bara on Sunday.

Sources in the region said that every family was provided with five kilogrammes of meat at distribution points established at different locations.
