SWABI: A clash between families in Gadoon Amazai mountainous region left two young men dead here on Tuesday, the police and members of a local jirga said.

They said members of both the families in Deval Ghari village targeted each over marriage of a girl without consent of her parents. Following the clash, the jirga members locked their houses and expelled them from their village.

A footage shared on social media showed the people armed with Kalashnikovs and pistols started fire.

Jirga members appealed to the warring families to cease fire, but to no avail.

As a result of the clash, one person each from the rival families was killed. They were identified as Majid Khan and Majid Said.

The families got registered cross-FIRs in Utla police station.

Meanwhile, a clash on share of a hujra and a house between relatives claimed life of a woman in Shewa village of Razaar tehsil on Tuesday, the police said.

Kalu Khan police station officials quoted husband of the deceased as saying they were inside their house when their neigbours, who were also their relatives, climbed to their roof and started firing, killing his wife on the spot.

PROTEST: Students of Postgraduate College, Gohati, on Tuesday demonstrated against increase in fee.

The students gathered on the premises of the college and marched to Gohati Bridge, where they blocked the Swabi-Mardan Road. They chanted slogans against the college management, saying increase in semester fee was not acceptable to them.

The commuters suffered as they were forced to wait in hot weather for reopening of the road.

Later, the students dispersed when the college management assured them of reconsidering the decision on fee hike.
