LOWER DIR: The court of district and sessions judge, Phool Bibi, sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs900,000 on him for killing his pregnant wife and injuring his two-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on October 19, 2020, in Jam Dheri area of Maidan. The court also ordered the convict, Mohammad Hassan, to pay Rs500,000 to the legal heirs of the deceased woman and Rs400,000 for injuring a minor.

The court announced its 17-page judgment here the other day. The FIR of the occurrence was registered at Lal Qila police station under sections 302, 324, 311, 337 A (i) PPC, 37 CPA and 19 AA.

The FIR said that his wife Shazia Bibi, 25, was 30 weeks pregnant when the accused killed her over mere suspicion and attempted to murder his two-year-old daughter Sana Bibi.

The prosecution proved the case in the court and the accused was convicted and sentenced. Advocate Nehal Yousafzai appeared for the complainants and pleaded the case freely as the family was unable to afford his fee.

Talking to journalists after the judgment, Advocate Nehal said that he would continue to help the poor to get them speedy justice in the courts.

ANP: Awami national Party (ANP) on Sunday constituted an organising committee for Munda tehsil. The decision was taken during a meeting of the party held in Munda with its district president Haji Bahadar Khan in the chair. Mumtaz Khan was nominated as tehsil chairman, Samiullah as general secretary and Bakht Baidar as secretary information while Ayub Khan, Gul Mali Khan and Iqbal as members of the committee.

The meeting was attended by party presidents of union councils and other office-bearers.

Addressing the meeting, Haji Bahadar Khan said that Pukhtuns had no option other than ANP in the province. He said that ANP was the party of martyrs and freedom fighters and believed in non-violence philosophy of Bacha Khan. He said that none of the political parties could defeat ANP in Jandol in case the workers got united.
