BAHAWALPUR: The Bahawalpur Commissioner’s Office was linked with the Civil Secretariat in Lahore through the e-filing office automation system (E-FOAS) on Saturday.

By this E-FOAS, different official summaries and notes could be directly communicated to the Chief Secretary Office in Lahore.

Performing the opening ceremony of the system, Commissioner Dr Ehtesham Anwar Mahar said time and resources could be saved with the introduction of the paperless technology.

He communicated the first-ever official summary through this automation system to the chief secretary.

The commissioner was briefed about the new system by Abdul Raoof, senior program manager of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) .

WASTE: The department of environment booked owners of seven junkyards allegedly involved in the purchase of the hospital waste while three government hospitals were served warning notices in the district for negligence in disposal of their waste.

This was stated by Environments Assistant Director Ansar Abbas in a meeting of district hospitals waste supervisory committee chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Farooq Qamar.

The chair said that hospitals and individuals could be penalised for their negligence in disposal of the hospital waste.
