PESHAWAR: A religious scholar was killed in Afridi Abad area on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Saturday, the police said.

Badhber police station officials said Muhibullah, a brother of the deceased, Mufti Ehsan, informed them that they were on their way back home after offering prayers in a mosque when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at his brother, killing him on the spot.

The officials said the attack was being investigated.
