MANSEHRA: A group of women schoolteachers has moved an application to the deputy commissioner, demanding an inquiry against the husband of the district education officer for ‘harassing’ them at her office.

“Husband of education officer Rehana Yasmeen is enjoying all the official powers conferred to her by the education department, and whenever female teachers go to Ms Yasmeen’s office in connection with their day-to-day issues, her husband misbehaves and passes immoral remarks against them,” Maryam Bibi, a grade-15 teacher posted to government girls middle school, Bai Bajna in Oghi, told reporters here on Wednesday.

She said she had moved a written complaint with the DC seeking an inquiry against the DEO’s husband. She alleged the man was also issuing posting and transfer orders of teachers without any lawful authority, and his wife only stamped and signed documents as a formality.

She said DEO Yasmeen’s husband usually sat on her official chair.
