SAHIWAL: Local district administration and Rescue 1122 say the death of Muhammad Arshad who collapsed near Eagle Football Club has nothing to do with the free flour distribution.

“Neither he was collecting any flour nor he was with anyone collecting flour. Actually, he suffered a heart attack near the football ground at 6:04 am and was shifted to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where he died of cardiac arrest”, Dr. Khalid Abdullah, District Emergency Officer of Rescue 1122 told Dawn.

DC Ikramul Haq told Dawn it had already been announced that Sunday (April 2) flour sale was reserved for women only. He said Arshad was found 600 meters away from the distribution center.

Rescue 1122 received a call at 6:04 am morning that a man had collapsed near the football ground.

Rescuer Adnan Shamas told Dawn Arshad was rushed to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital but he expired. The 41 years old was the resident of Bashir Colony near Purana Bijli Ghar.

Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal told Dawn that flour distribution was smooth. He said the administration had decided to give three flour bags to each deserving person in one go. He said so far 457,505; 532,049 and 380,429 bags had been distributed in the districts of Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan, respectively.

He said the free distribution of flour would continue till 25th of Ramazan.
