KARACHI: Two persons were shot dead in different parts of the metropolis on Sunday, police said.

The Brigade police said that a police constable murdered his neighbour after a fight between their children in Avicenna Lines.

They said that the incident took place near Faizan-i-Aulia Masjid.

Area SHO Agha Mashooq said that children fought with each other while playing and some elders also joined the fight. Two men, said to be policemen, resorted to firing, resulting in bullet injuries to Sher Mohammed, 45.

He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he died during treatment.

The area SHO said that one policeman was taken into custody, while his accomplice managed to escape.

In another incident, an 18-year-old boy was shot dead in Ibrahim Hyderi on Sunday.

Police said Rehan Habib was gunned down during a dispute over some girl near Dil Nawaz Masjid in Juma Goth. The body was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination.

Area SHO Ayub Odho said the victim and prime suspect Abdullah were ‘interested’ in the same girl. A scuffle broke out between them on Saturday afternoon, but their elders intervened and managed to pacify them.

However, Abdullah, along with his accomplices, intercepted the victim and fired at him and fled.

The police said that one of the suspects was arrested but Abdullah was still at large. Both the suspects and the victim are Bengalis.

Meanwhile, a police constable was shot at and wounded near a graveyard in Gulshan-i-Mazdoor on Sunday.
