KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon on Sunday ordered extraordinary security arrangements at Ramazan Bachat bazaars and places where philanthropists are distributing free rations among deserving persons.

He asked the police to remain in touch with the administration of the bazaars and persons distributing rations in order to protect people and avoid chaos due to overcrowding.

The IGP also issued directions for provision of foolproof security at mosques, imambargahs and other open places where Taraweeh prayers are being offered.

Patrolling and snap-checking of vehicles should be enhanced in the surrounding areas of Taraweeh venues, he said.

The provincial police chief said that security steps at all districts should be coordinated and effective to maintain peace in the holy month.
