KASUR: Kasur police claimed on Thursday to have arrested another robber in an injured condition after an ‘encounter’ with the bandits, following the same script, it had arrested injured robbers in over half a dozen shootouts during the last few weeks.

According to Sara-i-Mughal police, three unidentified robbers near Ghora Pulli snatched a bike, cash and other valuables from Nazim who, later, informed the police at 15.

Responding to the call, police reached the place of incident, took the complainant with it in the official vehicle and chased the robbers. Police said it confronted the bandits near Head Balloki. Seeing the police, the robbers opened indiscriminate firing that was not retaliated, rather, the police and the complainant had a narrow escape. Police said, after some time, the guns went silent and police found an injured robber at the place of the shootout.

Police claimed that a robber, later identified as Naveed alias Needi, was injured in firing by his accomplices who managed their escape. Police also claimed to have recovered snatched bike of Nazim and other valuables from the injured robber.

The incident, according to the first information report, took place at about 11.45 pm but police in a press release at 1.08 am claimed that Needi was wanted by Kasur police in 68 cases of robbery and murder.

Police lodged a case against the injured robber and two of his accomplices who were nominated by the suspect in custody.

MINOR GIRL RAPED: A shopkeeper allegedly raped a minor girl on Thursday at village Maan in the limits of Saddar police station.

According to the complainant, mother of the survivor, her five-year-old daughter went to the shop at the corner of the street to bring a sachet of surf. She alleged that the suspect brought her inside the shop and allegedly raped her. Some villagers rushed to the shop when the girl raised an alarm.

The residents, however, overpowered the suspect and handed him over to Saddar police after beating him. Police shifted the girl to the DHQ hospital where the doctors confirmed sexual assault after preliminary examination. Police also sent the samples to forensic lab for DNA profiling.

Police have registered a case against the suspect, put him behind bars and started investigations.

According to some villagers, this was not the first time that the suspect was caught red-handed, he had allegedly committed the offence in the past but he managed to go scot-free with the intervention of locals.
