TOBA TEK SINGH: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Senate approved on Wednesday statement of account to the tune of Rs5.335 billion for financial year 2021-22 and revised estimates worth Rs8.52bn for 2022-23.
The meeting of the Senate was presided over by VC Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan as the governor’s nominee.
Dr Iqrar apprised the House that despite scarce financial resources, the university always remained within its cash flow and closed its books in positive.
He elaborated that more than 7,000 students were being financially supported with an annual turnover of Rs 1bn. He said the university was also providing free education to the disabled students and Balochistan nominees as per directives of the Punjab government.
FESTIVAL: Meanwhile, in his speech to participants in the [four-day] Lyallpur Literature and Art Festival on its third day, he said: “It is the need of the hour to cultivate the minds of the youth with literary activities and connect them with our rich norms and values that will spread the fragrance of love, tolerance and sacrifice.
The festival featured Qirat and Naat, Punjabi Takra, quiz competition, Mushaira, Virsa music fest, policy-making contests, Qawali night, agri media fest, drama, war of minds, business idea competition and Qissah day.
Dr Iqrar said it is the annual feature of the university to hold the literature festival that provides a platform to the students to compete and exhibit their talent.
Renowned Poets Syed Salman Gilani, Anjum Salemi, Tehzeb Hafi, Ali Zarion, Ikram Arfi, Umair Najmi, Faisal Ali, Kamil Husnain, Mahnoor, Irfan Waris, Mukeel Bukhari, Usman Zia, Owais Malik, Ahmad Saleem Rafi and Khurrum Affaq presented their poetry.
