PESHAWAR: Three newly-confirmed judges of the Peshawar High Court took oath of their offices here on Friday.

Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan administered oath to the judges, including Justice Kamran Hayat Miankhel, Justice Mohammad Ijaz Khan and Justice Mohammad Faheem Wali, at a ceremony.

Judges of the high court, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general, additional attorney general for Pakistan, Peshawar district and sessions judge, vice-chairman of KP Bar Council, cabinet members of PHC Bar Association and Peshawar bar association and principal officers of the high court were also in attendance.

The three judges were appointed as additional judges by the president on the recommendation of the judicial commission in Feb 2022, and after their performance was found satisfactory they were confirmed as judges of the high court.

The high court is presently having 19 judges, including three additional judges.

Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and senior puisne judge Justice Roohul Amin Khan will retire in March this year, whereas another senior judge, Justice Mussarat Hilali, who is the lone woman judge on the bench, will also retire in August this year.

Two other judges, Justice Ibrahim Khan and Justice Abdul Shakoor will retire in 2024.
