TOBA TEK SINGH: Three members of a family of Hafizabad died and 12 were injured seriously when their van rammed into a road divider near Shamkot interchange on the M-4 in the wee hours of Sunday.

Rescuers said the family was going to Alipur (Muzaffargarh) in the van to participate in the wedding of a relative when the accident took place. The van driver fell asleep and he lost control of the vehicle, which hit the road divider. As a result of the accident, three people died and 12 received injuries.

The deceased were identified as Allah Ditta (50), Yameen Sabir (60) and Khalid Naseer (50) while the injured were identified as Ramzan (40), his wife Asma Bibi (30) and his three sons, Daud (11), Abu Bakar (4) and Awais (2), Ali (27), Rehan (16), Amjad (27), Akash (30), Yasin (24), Shahzad (36) and Umair (17).

All injured were admitted to Khanewal District Headquarters Hospital where the condition of four of them was reported to be critical.

INJURED: A constable of Nishatabad police of Faisalabad was injured seriously in crossfire between two rival groups.

A police party raided to arrest a suspect in a case on Sunday night in Nishatabad locality. Police could not find the suspect in the raid but as they were returning to the police van, firing started between the suspect and complainant groups and a bullet hit Constable Ghulam Sabbir. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital.

Regional Police Officer Abid Khan and CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani inquired after the health of the constable. Two accused involved in the firing were arrested. They were identified as Rizwan and Fareed.
