KARACHI: In contrast to a downward trend on world markets, one tola and 10 grams domestic gold rates on Saturday hit a new all-time high of Rs209,000 and Rs179,184, respectively, up by Rs6,500 and Rs5,574 from Friday.

As per the rate issued by the All Sindh Saraf Jewellers Association, the world gold rate had dipped by $2 to $1,928 per ounce.

In the last two days, the world gold rate has plunged by $8 per ounce but the association pushed up

Local rates of one tola and 10 gram by Rs13,500 and Rs11,574 as a result of 13.7pc rupee devaluation against the dollar.
