GILGIT: An event to exhibit tech projects designed by students of different public schools of Gilgit-Baltistan under the STEM initiative will be held at National Library, Islamabad, on Monday.

‘G-B Dream Roadshow’ will also showcase human development initiatives in different sectors taken by the GB government, particularly in education, information technology, health, and women empowerment.

President Arif Alvi will grace the occasion as the chief guest, whereas Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed Khan, his ministers, and the opposition leader will also attend the event. Various renowned scholars, diplomats, and others experts from various fields will also participate. The roadshow will exhibit projects designed by the GB students. These projects are the hallmark of “creativity and imagination and speak volumes about the potential of the young minds”, a press release said.

“School kids from grade 6 to 8 are coming to Islamabad to present their projects… in the category of computer education, STEM and entrepreneurship”. These students created various projects, including “vacuum cleaners, smart dustbins, smart door with audio, laser security alarm system, Bluetooth antenna, hologram projectors, clap-switch model, electric washing machine, hydro Power plant, water turbine, wind energy, power plant, ATM machine, drones” among others.

The event will also showcase their business ideas i.e. herbal medicines, local handicrafts, chalgoza (chestnut) products, and use of walnut and apricots to make chocolates and candies.

“The impact of these human development initiatives taken since last year is that education, IT and health have become top agenda priority in the political elite of GB,” it said.

According to the statement, spending in education and health sectors “has increased three and two folds, respectively, compared to last year”.

The salient features of this event include collaboration and partnership with various organisation, including public-private partnerships, to promote human development in the region.
