QUETTA: Gas supply to Quetta and nearby towns was suspended after unknown persons blew up a pipeline in Bolan district on Tuesday night.

According to a spokesperson for the Sui Southern Gas Company, “unidentified miscreants” had planted explosives under the pipeline at Gokart, 15 kilometres from Dhadar, the district headquarters of Bolan district.

“Engineers and other SSGC workers shall visit the area on Wednesday morning after security clearance.”

The spokesperson added, however, that repairs would take at least one week.

The pipeline, 30 centimetres in diameter, passes through mountainous terrain near Bolan Pass.
