KARACHI: Total rationing of sugar will be introduced throughout the country from Dec. 16 and the Government will procure the entire quantity of sugar from all the sugar mills for this purpose. The price of sugar sold by ration depots will be Rs. 2.50 per seer, and selling it at a price higher will be a penal offence. These decisions were taken at a high-level conference held here yesterday [Dec 6] under the chairmanship of President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The Central Food and Agriculture Minister, Mr Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani, announcing the decisions last night on radio and television, said that the Government had decided not to import any more sugar. — Staff Reporter

[Meanwhile, as reported by the staff reporter from Karachi,] Mir Ghaus Bux Bizenjo, Governor of Baluchistan yesterday [Dec 6] charged the anti-people and vested interests of hatching a well-laid conspiracy, nurtured for the last six months, and reinforced by all their capital and influence, to foment trouble and, thereby, undermine the authority of the Baluchistan Provincial Government. However, he said that judging from the outcome of their designs it has now become crystal clear how much weight the “combine” of Mr Abdul Qayyum Khan and Sardar Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani, the two Central Ministers, carry among the people of Baluchistan.
