KASUR: The Kasur Tanneries Waste Management Authority (KTWMA) has got a case registered against a man, who had died about five years back, over the charges of hurling threats and creating hurdles in the performance of duty of public servants.

B-Division police lodged a case under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 186 (obstructing any public servant in the discharge of his public functions) of Pakistan Penal Code against Barkat Masih on Nov 25 on the complaint of Kasur Tanneries Waste Management Authority recovery officer Muhammad Afzaal.

On Monday, the case took an embarrassing turn when police raided the house of the suspect for arrest and learnt that the man had died in 2018.

According to the complainant, Barkat Masih had allegedly broken the seal of his tannery that was sealed over default in payment of dues pending with Kasur Tanneries Waste Management Authority .

Later, when the complainant visited the [sealed] tannery, Barkat allegedly broke the seal and threatened him and his team with dire consequences.

According to police, the suspect would be discharged of his crime if the family provided his death certificate.
