LAHORE: Governor Balighur Rehman on Thursday approved three bills passed by the Punjab Assembly in the public interest.

“Notwithstanding that the assent has been accorded in the public interest regarding the University of Layyah Bill 2022, Punjab Protection of Women against Violence (amendment bill 2022) and the Punjab Public Financial Management Bill 2022,” the governor said who earlier had advised the Punjab Assembly to adopt a proper procedure and channel in submitting bills to the governor’s secretariat.

Meanwhile, Switzerland’s ambassador Georg Steiner called on the governor at the Governor House and discussed issues of mutual interest, including further promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields especially trade.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor said Pakistan valued relations with Switzerland and cooperation in socio-economic development. He said the people and the government of Pakistan were grateful to Switzerland for helping the flood victims. He said the process of rehabilitation of the flood victims was going on.

He said Swiss products were preferred in Pakistan due to their quality. He said Swiss businessmen should exchange technology and good practices in Pakistan. There were vast opportunities for them to invest in Pakistan, he said and added expediting the visa process for the Pakistani businessmen to Switzerland would further boost bilateral trade.

Georg Steiner said the people of Pakistan were very hospitable as his country attached great importance to its cooperation with Pakistan.
