TAXILA: Police on Monday announced that they had busted a gang involved in street crime and arrested three members besides nabbing a man wanted in a double murder case.

Talking to newsmen, Subdivisional Police Officer Mian Afzaal Shah said the ‘Charlu gang’ was involved in a number of street crime, especially snatching and robbery.

He said police acting on a tip-off raided their den and arrested the outlaws. He said the police also recovered looted booty and weapons utilised in different crimes.

Mr Shah said Wah Saddat police arrested an accused in a double murder case.

The reason behind the murder was old enmity.

He said Hassan allegedly killed Gohar Shamim and Israr Khan on Nov 14 on Islamabad-Peshawar motorway (M-1) near Brahma Bhattar interchange in Wah Saddar police area and went underground.

Three drug peddlers held

Two special courts for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Attock on Monday sentenced three drug peddlers to imprisonment besides imposing fines on them.

Additional session judge Nadeem Abbas Saqi pronounced the judgment after recording statements of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.

He found Khurrum Masih, a resident of Hazro, guilty of drug peddling in a case registered against him on February 26, 2022 at Hazro police station and sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs20,000.

Moreover, a special court in Jand also sentenced two drug peddlers to imprisonment and fined them.
