QUETTA: A police constable was shot dead on Tuesday in the Killi Tarate area of Pishin.

Zainullah, posted at Surkhab Police Station, was on his way along with his 10-year-old son to Killi Tarate, when two unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire, killing the cop on the spot as his son watched the incident, police officials said.

Police rushed to the area after the incident and took the body to Pishin district hospital. The cause of the killing could not be ascertained. It was the second such incident in Pishin. Last week, some unknown armed men shot dead a police head constable escorting a polio team.

In Chaman as well, a Levies soldier was shot dead by armed men. He was also guarding a polio team in a village. These killings were claimed by the banned TTP.
