QUETTA: The engineers of Radio Pakistan across the country have expressed concern over recent promotions made by the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) ignoring the seniority principle.

“It’s a big injustice with radio engineers who have been completely ignored despite being on top of the seniority list,” senior engineers at the national public broadcaster said in a statement on Sunday.

They said the PBC administration in headquarters promoted two most junior engineers out of turn, which had created unrest among the engineers working in all radio stations across the country.

In a national organisation like Radio Pakistan, violating rules and regulations while promoting the employees was a serious issue, the affected engineers said, claiming that high-ups in the PBC administration were appointing people of their choice by ignoring merit and rules.

“The PBC administration in headquarters has illegally brought two most junior engineers up in the seniority list and appointed them at important posts,” the statement said and urged Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and other authorities concerned to take notice and act against those behind this “discrimination”.

They said they would take their protest nationwide if these “undue promotions” were not cancelled.
