The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the army conducted an intelligence-based operation in the merged-tribal tehsil Darazinda, where a fierce exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the terrorists.

As a result, two jawans of Pakistan Army identified as Sajid Hussain, 33, and Mohammad Israr, 26, embraced martyrdom, it said. Sajid Hussain hailed from Khushab, while Mohammad Israr belonged to Attock.

According to the ISPR, the security forces surrounded the area and started a search operation.

Local police told Dawn that two other personnel, including Naik Jawad and Sepoy Ahmed Faraz, were injured in the operation.

Earlier on Oct 24, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police killed a militant during an operation in Kulachi tehsil of D.I. Khan.

According to the district police spokesman, two terrorists fired at CTD personnel, who fired back, killing terrorist Waheed on the spot. The spokesman said he was wanted by the police in several cases of terrorism.
