RAWALPINDI, Dec 24: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Saturday highlighted the need for projecting Islam in its true perspective as a religion of peace and tolerance. “Islam stands for peace, enlightenment, tolerance and moderation and we must strive for projecting the great religion in its true perspective to the world,” he stated.

The president was speaking to Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf of Masjid Al-Farah, New York, USA, who called on him.

Mr Faisal appreciated Pakistan’s efforts under the leadership of President Musharraf for promotion of inter-faith harmony and tolerance in the world.
