TOBA TEK SINGH: NA-108 by-election district monitoring officer (DMO) Syed Basit Ali has taken notice of transfer of Faisalabad investigation SSP Muhammad Afzal to Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

In a letter written by the DMO on Tuesday to the Punjab chief secretary, he said it was tantamount to violation of directions of Election Commission of Pakistan. The letter demanded cancellation of the transfer.

OPERATION: The Faisalabad district administration has started operation against beggary.

DC Imran Hamid Sheikh said on Tuesday that an anti-beggary squad comprising social welfare, civil defence, police and child protection unit officials carried out a grand operation at public points and took into custody more than 30 addict beggars and shifted them to the shelter home at general bus stand.

He said first information reports would be registered against ‘habitual’ beggars while ‘temporary’ beggars would be provided accommodation. He said child beggars would be admitted to institutions for technical education.

ROBBER OVERPOWERED: Villagers overpowered a robber here on Tuesday at Jhang.

Police said four robbers were looting passers-by early in the morning in Jhang Saddar area near Malluana Morr. When some of the people offered resistance they managed to escape; however three villagers chased them.

The suspects fired on the people who remained unhurt. Their own accomplice identified as Asif Nawaz of Chak 232 JB was injured when a bullet hit him. He was rushed to DHQ hospital.

His accomplices managed their escape.

A press release said he was wanted by different police stations of Sargodha and Jhang districts in a number of robberies.

KILLED: Two persons were killed and as many others injured critically when a bus hit a car and two motorcycles at Guttwala, Faisalabad, near new bridge on Canal Road.

Rescue 1122 report said the deceased were identified as Afzal, 62, and Arif, 43. Injured Nasim Shah and Shahzad were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.
