SAHIWAL: A youngster fired at and wounded a security guard at the Government Girls MC High School in Sarki Bazaar on Monday after he forbade him from harassing girls.

Guard Zafar informed the Ghala Mandi police that the suspect along with another youth would pester the girl students outside the school and it was reported to the school administration.

On Monday, he found them again teasing the students. When he confronted and captured one of them, the youth fired shots in his foot and ankle. The gunshots panicked students.

Rescue 1122 shifted Zafar to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, while the police said they were collecting CCTV footage to trace the suspects.

Education authority CEO Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed inquired after the guard.

He said the department would seek the inclusion of the anti-terrorist section to the case and enhanced security in and around the school.

BOY RESCUED: A class six student was rescued by villagers from an armed man who tried to sexually assault him in village 11-L on Monday.

The boy was going home after the school when a local tried to take him to nearby fields at gunpoint but the boy’s cries alerted the passersby who came to his rescue. The case is being investigated by the police.
