AHMEDABAD, Dec 22: India vice-captain Virender Sehwag is untroubled by his run of low scores before the high-profile Pakistan tour in January.

“I think I am in good nick,” the opener told reporters after India won the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka 2-0 on Thursday.

“I am getting 20s and 30s, only I have not been converting them to big hundreds,” he said.

The 27-year-old batsman from Delhi, known for his aggressive approach, has not scored a Test century since the 201 against Pakistan in the home series last season.

He scored 36 in the first Test against Sri Lanka, missed the second in New Delhi because of illness and made 20 and nought in the third.

“I am working hard on my batting. I want to stay in the middle for as long as possible,” the batsman said.

Sehwag became India’s only triple centurion in 2003-04 when India scored their first Test series victory in Pakistan.

He said he did not feel pressure. “I am the sort who plays my game. I am pretty cool and confident of getting runs.”

India are scheduled to play three Tests and five one-dayers against Pakistan, who have just completed Test and one-day series defeats of England.

“We are confident of handling the Pakistan bowlers,” said Sehwag. “If they give us pacy tracks, our bowlers can have them in trouble,” he said.—Reuters
