ISLAMABAD: A man shot and injured his accomplice during a robbery while cash and valuables were looted from 31 places of the capital, police said on Monday.

In the first incident, a robber shot and injured one of his accomplices during a robbery at a goldsmith’s shop in Sohan, police said, adding that two gunmen raided the shop of Syed M. Omer Shah and looted four tolas of gold ornaments, however, the shopkeeper captured one of them. The other robber tried to set him free but opened fire on his accomplice in the process. The robbers were able to escape.

In another incident, an unidentified persons carrying a wireless set intercepted and held M. Saqib at gunpoint on Park Road near Rawal Dam Chowk when he was going to Pind Beghwal after arriving at Islamabad International Airport, police said.

They introduced themselves as government officials and sought a search. In the process, they snatched 800 dirhams, Rs27,000, three mobile phones and a passport and escaped.

Likewise, two persons carrying a wireless set intercepted M. Ishtiaq near Convention Centre when he was going towards Kotli Sattian after arriving at the airport from Dubai, police said. They too introduced themselves as government officials and sought a search.

They snatched 300 dirhams, Rs7,000 and a mobile phone from him.

Moreover, three persons armed with weapons raided the shop of M Afzal at Rawat and held up the shopkeeper at gunpoint, the police said, adding that later they looted cash Rs800,000 at gunpoint and escaped.

Similarly, four persons armed with weapons intercepted and held up Jawad Saeed at gunpoint at the E-11 signal and looted cash Rs5,000, a laptop worth Rs50,000 a mobile phone worth Rs40,000 and an ATM card at gunpoint, they said, adding three gunmen intercepted and held up M Irfan at gunpoint at IJP Road and snatched his vehicle.

Besides this, gunmen intercepted and held up Waqar Saeed at gunpoint at Pindorian Chongi and looted a motorcycle worth Rs180,000, the police said, adding valuables were snatched at gunpoint from Abdul Wahid at Sangjani.

Furthermore, robbers looted cash Rs55,000 and a mobile phone from Ijaz Ahmed at I-9/3, cash Rs6,000 and another mobile phone from Abu Bakar Bungash at Sharifabad and a mobile worth Rs25,000 from Syed Adnan at IJP Road.

Moreover, burglars stole 15 tola gold ornaments and cash Rs800,000 from the house of Liaquat Ali at B-17, 4 tola gold ornaments and other household items worth Rs850,000 from the house of Tahir Ayoub at Alipur, cash Rs200,000 and seven tolas of gold ornaments from the house of Absarul Haq at Ashraf Town, cash Rs60,000 and gold ornaments from the house of Parveen Akhtar at Sohan, gold ornaments, cash Rs12,000, 87 un-stitched suits from the house of Shah Khalid at Ashraf Town, three mobile phones worth Rs100,000 and cash Rs8,000 from the house of Abbas Khan at Mera Abadi, and cash Rs25,000, a mobile phone and other items worth Rs10,000 from the house of Omer Hayat at Golra, they added.

Beside, culprits snatched a mobile phone worth Rs27,000 from Sheraz Khan at I-9 Markaz and a mobile phone from M Ahsan at IJP Road, the police said.

Meanwhile, 12 motorcycles were stolen from G-10 Markaz, Rati Kasi, Bahria University, Blue Area, G-9 Markaz, Shah Allah Ditta, Centaurus Mall, Ghouri Town, Mera Badi, Nadra Parking Blue Area, G-8/1, and G-12, they added.
