ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) on Tuesday auctioned mega entertainment zone in F-9 Park.

However, it could not get any bid for intra-city wagon taxi stands.

The DMA conducted auction and received a bid worth Rs80 million per year for mega entertainment zone. But, the intra city wagon taxi stands located at various locations could not get any bid.

Last time, the DMA had auctioned wagon and taxi stands for Rs42 million per year. The previous contractor is still running his business on the said site and DMA without getting possession of the site, had tried to auction it that apparently resulted into no bid.

“We auctioned mega entertainment zone for Rs80 million per year while no bid was received regarding intra city wagon and bus stands,” said director DMA Shakeel Arshad.

“The previous contractor had also brought a stay order from a local court for maintaining status quo, now we will not only fight this case in court vigorously but also go for new auction,” the director said.

The mega zone facility, spreading over three acres, is one of the main attractions for visitors to F-9 park, particularly on the weekends.

It has a swimming pool, bowling club, restaurants, shops, play area and gaming zone.

After the MCI was formed in 2016, the F-9 Park along with the facility was devolved to it. The MCI leased it out at a nominal rate but in 2019 the municipal administration leased it at a higher rate of Rs60 million and now it has been auctioned for Rs80 million per year.
